Subject: Jill with 2 weeks-old kit in heat again
Hello, Dr. Williams.
I'm writing regarding my jill Nina, who is in heat again.
She had a minor blood loss during her pregnacy and I did what you advised, keeping an eye on her. Things went ok, and she had only one kit, a male who's also doing very well. Now, two days ago I stated noticing heat behaviour in her, checked and was amazed to see her vulva very swelled. She is in heat, with a 2 weeks old kit. Nina is 9 months old and this is her 3rd heat so far (December, February, April). Being an expert, what would you advise me to do? Should I wait for it to go away? A jill-jab? Mating her again? Spaying? I'm also afraid that, having just one kit, her milk might dry up. Is that usual?
Thank you for your time and for any help you might give me.
My best regards

E agora a resposta:
Dear Ines:
You are in an unusual situation - irregular estrus cycle and odd litter
size. I am also concerned that she may dry up during the cycle, or that
normal methods to bring her out of heat may not work. I think she is an
excellent candidate for spaying if there is not something absolutely
remarkable about her or her bloodline - she sounds like a trouble breeder.

Gostava de saber se mais alguma irmã da Nina tem/terá este problema. Espero que não.
Bem, o máximo que lhe pode acontecer é ir à faca, mas antes gostava de experimentar métodos alternativos.
