For all those people who replied, thank you very much. Yes I am an estrangeira and I do speak Portuguese, but it is a difficult language to write !
I am so happy to have found this site. It proves that there are some people in Portugal who do care about animals. Out here in the "campo" I am afraid they don't treat them very well.
I have found training schools on the net, but they are all near Lisbon, so I will have to go there.
Some people have called my bitch a "bruta" and suggested I put a "bullet through her head". Others say, "sell her" or "abandon her near a restaurant". Last year one of my neighbours shot my little dog dead for killing his chicken !
Why can't people understand that I love her. She is very faithful and loving and only needs to be introduced to other dogs slowly so she can learn that they don't all attack ?

This is ilegal, and you should have gone to the Police (or GNR). You would have paid for you neighbour's chicken, but He should have been acused for shoting your dog!! I don´t know if he even has a license for the gun, but if it is for hunting it certainly isn't for 'hunting' dogs!! Next time it may be a child that steals some fruit!!!
