This is the recent story involving an Argentine Champion Dogo Argentino, Caudillo Del Doyel.
His owner was driving alone in a minivan (Peugeot Partner), with Caudillo secured inside a crate in the posterior part of the vehicle. The van was stopped by armed robbers moving in 2 cars, who forced the man to step down of his car. Caudillo's owner told the crooks to take all his money and the car, but to let him get out his dog. After some arguing with no result, both criminals stepped into the van, and Caudillo's owner, instead of running away, went to the back of the vehicle, and forcefully opened the rear doors (it was a cargo minivan). He tried to grab the crate by the iron gate, but the van was already moving, and due to Caudillo's weight, the crate's gate broke open and Caudillo was free. The owner yelled to Caudillo to jump out of the van; at that moment, one of the crimimals turns around cursing and points a gun towards the man. Instead of jumping down, Caudillo grabbed the driver by the neck, saving his master's life. I will translate the rest directly from Caudillo's master's words:
..."Caudillo grabs the driver by the neck; I run but fall behind, because I cannot run as fast as the van is going...still, I keep on running and running, hearing every gunshot that the other criminal is hitting my son with, and feeling like if he was hitting myself with them. The van starts moving in zig-zag, and after 1 block it crashes against a tree; Caudillo get's down walking and collapses at 20 yards from it...the criminal that was in the passenger's sit also get's down of the van and into the supporting car...his partners get out of the car and into the van and they lift and carry the driver that had been attacked by Caudillo, putting him inside the support car...the 4 of them drive away in it.
I run to meet my son and I see that they had killed my son...they had shot him 7 times with a .45 Caliber pistol..."
