Bem... nós temos tendencia para sobrevalorizar a nossa raça preferida...
Mas é batota comparar bons exemplares de Czechoslovakian Wolfdog com menos bons exemplares de Saarloos Wolfhound.
EU ESTIVE, COMO JÁ DISSE, COM VÁRIOS EXEMPLARES DAS 2 RAÇAS AO VIVO E A CORES, E NÃO SÃO TÃO DIFERENTES ( os exemplares que vi )COMO AQUI É ILUSTRADO NALGUMAS FOTOS.
Não tenho preferencia especial por nenhuma delas, gosto imenso das 2.
Aceitam-se comentários. Se for por parte de conhecedores das 2 raças melhor.

Se calhar é mesmo como o Fang diz, e é normal que cada um queira dar uma imagem melhor da sua raça. Mas não há dúvida que, em relação aos animais das Fotos, o CzW é muito mais bonito! ( na minha opinião pessoal).

I took photos of two czecholovakian wolfdogs (club winners) and Saarloos Wolfhounds that are getting some BOBs in the dog shows in Germany. Since two years I'm taking part in the Club Dog Show for Saarloos Wolfhounds in DE where I have the chance to see the best dogs of this breed. And on the pictures you see exactly which type of SW is geting the "Club winner" titles. To proove my words please visit some pages of SWs in Germany and Holland:

What are the differences?
- CzW have (or should have) shorter and not so low set ears
- the mask is a little bit different
- body is shorter
- colour of their eyes is amber (for Saarloos it can be also brown, what it a big fault for a CzW)
- there are no CzWs with chocolate hair
- and, and, and...
And all this is not so important ; the differences are sometimes hard to see (there is a large numbers of CzW x Saarloos crossings). But there is a one huge difference: character.

Lendert Saarloos created a family dog. As you can read in their breed standard it can be shy; trying to escape in strange situations is typical for this breed. But they are good femily friends without any agression.

Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs were made fo the army and they are still much harder. They can be only "suspicious" - shy and agressive dogs are not allowed for breeding. It's make this breed only for experienced owners...

As you can see both breeds complement one another - everyone can find a wolfdog, that suits his needs

I visited the sites and I must say that I prefer the CsW 'looks' better
However the behavior is very important and everyone that is considering to have one of these dogs must have that in consideration.

Estou de facto contente com este tópico!!:D
Tudo começou com uma " bisca" lançada pelo Paulo, que nos levou a a temas de conversa um pouco sobre tudo.
Ao Margo peço desculpa por não responder em ingles, mas o meu ingles é mto mau (para não dizer péssimo!. Mas o paulo se encarregará de traduzir ) e tambem por alguma menos correcta afirmação ( quem está em contacto com as 2 raças apenas durante 1 dia, não é a mesma coisa que quem vive com elas diáriamente). Tambem quero agradecer ao Margo pelos esclarecimentos, que decerto serão bastante importantes para quem possa estar futuramente interessado numa destas 2 raças de wolfdogs ( a opinião de um entendido é sempre benvinda!). De facto, embora a haja deveras bastante semelhança fisica, o temperamento marca muito a diferença.
Não me lembro deste assunto ser debatido em nenhum forum em Portugal.
Decerto toda esta conversa será, a meu entender, um enorme contributo para a desmistificação dos wolfdogs como " coisas" negativas.
A troca de opiniões ( e não troca de "galhardetes") e debate de ideias "saudável" deste forum, deixa-me deveras motivado.
Agora uma pergunta:
Para quando teremos 1 destes Wolfdogs em Portugal

All this discussion about Wolfdogs began with this topic, asking people's opinion about the beatiful CzW breed (when I found the site www.wofdog.org). Several members showed interest in the topic, and in the breed, and the discussion went further.
Your information was precious and very well apreciated by all members, and you are always welcome to the forum to share your experiences with us.
Now a question must be asked: When will we have a wolfdog in Portugal? Is it of your knowledge? Have you ever been contacted to export one of these beautiful dogs?
